Dear Friends of Dentistry With Heart

As usual, it has been a very busy year. 2009  took us to Nicaragua and Africa. It was a very rewarding year. 

In April 2009 we went back once again to I AM Orphanage in Uganda where we treated the children as well as the surrounding community. The need is very great in Uganda and Dentistry With Heart is determined to make a difference.

The Mwamba Choir spent three month in the eastern United States where they raised more money towards the building project. The choir has been named best Children's Choir in Eastern Africa. The land has been cleared, and we are presently growing corn on the property. A third of the corn is for sale and two-thirds is for the children to eat.

I am presently sitting on my bunk bed at I AM Children's Family Orphanage updating the web site. We are here this year to do a feeding program for the community surrounding the orphanage. We have distributed 1000 pounds of rice,beans,flour and sugar divided into 10 pound bags along with oil to the poorest in the community.

We also had our second annual soccer tournament this year. It was a great success. This year we added two MVP rewards. One for the under 12 teams and one for the under 14 team. The winners will get a full scholarship to go to school. The cost per student is $350.00US

February 25,2010 to March 19,2010 saw us in the Philippines.  We had seven dentists and support staff for a total of thirty three of us. A tremendous amount of dentistry was done. At one venue, where we were for four days, we extracted over 3000 teeth and placed over 1500 fillings. .At this venue we also had four local dentists join us

We also took over one thousand eyeglasses with us to distribute

With the restrictions on luggage these days we are not able to take as much with us as in the past. Even though we would love to bring used clothing, shoes,toys etc. we can only take a limited amount. If you would like to help us with these endeavors we would appreciate cash donations. We will then use the cash to buy what we need at our destination.
